Passing Through The Waters Protected By God
“Fear not, the Lord says…You are mine. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you.” – Isaiah 43:1-2
I remembered that passage recently when one of our young men from Africa told me that his faith in God was all that kept him going in his long and dangerous journey from Africa to South America to the U.S.
He then showed me his Bible – the Bible that traveled with him from home. It had water stains – because it traveled with him as he forged rivers on his journey. Each time it became wet, he said, he laid it out on a rock to dry. Like scars on a wounded veteran, the water stains tell a story of courage and resilience.
I then asked him to find Isaiah 43 in his water-stained Bible. He found it, read it and then looked up with big eyes. “That’s me!” he said.
Yes, that is him.
God protected him through that long journey and God is protecting him now through all those who help out at and support Viator House. You are God’s promise fulfilled.
Peace,
