How to Help

Donate

Viator House of Hospitality offers housing, food, clothing, case management, and spiritual support to help young men develop the gifts and talents they hope to contribute to our nation.  It only costs Viator House $90 per day for a participant to receive these critical services versus the $130 per day it costs our federal government to house an immigrant seeking asylum in a county jail or for-profit detention center.

Here is the impact of your gift:

  • $500 provides a week of groceries for our 25 participants
  • $200 supplies clothing and essentials for one new participant
  • $100 covers an emergency cell phone for two new participants
  • $50 pays for two weeks of groceries for one participant
  • $25 provides two weeks of public transportation for a participant attending school
  • $10 pays for a week of emergency cell phone service

Donate gifts of stock or from your Donor Advised Fund (DAF).

A gift of stock (or other appreciated property) entitles you to a tax deduction for the market value of the donated stock (not just the cost basis). If the stock you wish to donate has been held for more than one year, you can avoid capital gains tax on any appreciation of the stock by donating the stock prior to sale. Viator House of Hospitality benefits by selling the stock without paying taxes on the gain, and you benefit from making a contribution that would be larger than what you might have been able to donate otherwise.

To ensure that you receive appropriate credit for your stock gift, please contact Fr. Corey Brost at brostcsv@gmail.com with your information (including name, stock, and the number of shares).  Our Tax ID is Tax ID #83-0884521.

Bequests are usually given through a donor’s will and designate a certain percentage or dollar amount of their estate or a specific asset to benefit Viator House of Hospitality.  Bequests provide a legacy for Viator House and help to ensure the organization’s work in the future.

The official bequest language for Viator House of Hospitality to include in your will or estate document contains the following statement:

“I give to Viator House of Hospitality, whose office address is 1212 East Euclid, Arlington Heights IL, 60004, __________ (inset either a specific dollar amount or a percentage of my estate) for ____________(general purposes).”

Seeking Affordable Housing In The Northwest Suburbs:

Viator House needs to expand its capacity so we can serve more young men.  We have some men ready to move out into second-stage housing, which will open up space for new participants.  The men in this second-stage housing program will continue receiving VHH staff services.  We are searching for landlords who will work with us to provide affordable housing.  Contact Fr. Corey Brost at brostcsv@gmail.com if you can help.

Volunteer

Viator House of Hospitality has more than 70 volunteers who provide more than 300 hours of service each month.  These volunteers work directly with our participants to tutor them, to mentor them and to drive them to school and jobs. They also spend time at VHH when no staff member can be present.

We also need skills-based volunteers to help with marketing, fundraising,  community outreach and other organizational needs.  If you want to learn how you can help or have a particular skill, please contact Volunteer Coordinator Beth Linnen at blinnen@viatorhouse.org.

Please complete the following form to learn more about volunteering if you can not email.
